After a year of intense secrecy, Sadie Sink has finally spoken about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jean Grey, saying she is "so excited" to explore the iconic X-Men character's future following her debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In an interview with Variety, Sink admitted she felt relieved now that fans know who she is playing. The Stranger Things star revealed she had to keep the role hidden throughout filming and the movie's promotional tour, describing the experience as both exciting and challenging. She said she has long admired Jean Grey and is eager to see where Marvel takes the character next.

Sink explained that this version of Jean Grey differs from previous live-action portrayals. Rather than entering the MCU as an established superhero, she plays a traumatised young mutant struggling to control her immense telepathic and telekinetic powers after years of manipulation by the Department of Damage Control. She said portraying Jean's emotional vulnerability was just as important as showcasing her extraordinary abilities.

The actress also confirmed she has already begun discussing Jean's future with X-Men director Jake Schreier, hinting that Marvel has long-term plans for the character. While remaining tight-lipped about specific storylines, Sink said it is "so exciting to think about what's next", comparing the experience to joining Stranger Things, where she gradually watched her character evolve over multiple projects.

Jean Grey's introduction has become one of the biggest talking points of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has shattered box office records and officially launched Marvel's next era of mutant storytelling. With an X-Men reboot now in development, Sink's performance is expected to play a central role in shaping the franchise's future.
