Marvel’s new Cyclops revealed? Kit Connor reportedly joins X-Men cast

Marvel Studios is reportedly moving closer to assembling the cast for its highly anticipated X-Men reboot, with Heartstopper star Kit Connor being eyed for the role of Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops.

According to reports, Marvel Studios has selected Connor as its preferred choice to portray the iconic mutant leader in the upcoming X-Men film. The actor’s potential casting follows recent reports that Samara Weaving is being considered for the role of Emma Frost.

Sources indicate that director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige met with multiple candidates before narrowing down their choices. Connor reportedly emerged as the studio’s pick after a series of meetings and auditions held over recent months.

Cyclops is one of the most important characters in Marvel’s X-Men comics, first appearing in 1963’s The X-Men created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The character is known for leading the mutant team and controlling powerful optic energy blasts through his signature visor.

The role has previously been played by James Marsden in the original 2000s X-Men films and Tye Sheridan in the later franchise instalments. Marsden is also set to return as Cyclops in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

The new X-Men movie has gained significant attention since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, bringing the popular mutant franchise under Marvel Studios. The project is being directed by Schreier, with Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo working on the screenplay.

Connor has become one of Hollywood’s rising young actors following his breakout role as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper. He has since appeared in projects including Alex Garland’s Warfare and the upcoming Elden Ring adaptation, further increasing his profile ahead of a possible MCU debut.
