Cop held on abduction charges

RAWALPINDI:

A Rawalpindi police constable has been arrested and booked along with two private accomplices after an inquiry found allegations of kidnapping and extortion against them to be substantiated.

According to officials, a citizen complained that the policeman and his two associates had kidnapped him, threatened to implicate him in a criminal case and released him after taking money.

City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera took immediate notice of the complaint and ordered an inquiry. Following the inquiry, Constable Mohsin Zia, who was posted at Chaklala police station, and his two accomplices were arrested from the CPO Office, and a case was registered against them on charges of kidnapping and extortion.
