Disney celebrates strong quarter as Toy Story 5 becomes a billion-dollar success

Disney has reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter earnings, with growth driven by Toy Story 5, improved streaming profits, theme park attendance and consumer product sales.

The company recorded $25.2 billion in revenue for the quarter ended in June, representing a 7% increase compared with the previous year. Disney’s total operating income rose 21% to $5.6 billion, while adjusted earnings per share increased to $2.06 from $1.61.

The results marked the first full quarter under CEO Josh D’Amaro, who said Disney’s long-term investments in major franchises continue to strengthen the company’s financial performance.

Disney’s Entertainment division reported $1.7 billion in profit, up 64%, with the company highlighting the success of Toy Story 5, which surpassed $1 billion at the global box office. The studio also pointed to upcoming projects such as The Devil Wears Prada 2 as contributors to future growth.

The company acknowledged that Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu and the live-action Moana remake performed below box office expectations but said both franchises continued generating value through merchandise, theme park attractions and streaming.

Disney+ streaming profits more than doubled to $712 million, with revenue reaching $5.5 billion. The company said subscription revenue increased due to subscriber growth and higher pricing, while it continues expanding local original content worldwide.

Disney’s Experiences division, which includes theme parks and cruises, reported a 20% rise in profit to more than $3 billion. Global attendance increased 4%, supported by strong domestic park performance and new attractions.

Disney also recorded a $100 million tariff refund during the quarter and said it remains focused on expanding its streaming ecosystem while strengthening its entertainment franchises.
