PHC bars deportation of ex-Afghan general
The Peshawar High Court Tuesday barred the deportation of former Afghan general and two Afghan journalists seeking temporary stay in Pakistan for two months due to threats to their lives in Afghanistan.
The court also referred their petitions to the Ministry of Interior.
Meanwhile, it reserved its verdict on the petitions filed by former Afghan Supreme Court judge Abdullah Mohammadi, Abdul Qayyum Omarzai of the Afghan National Defence, former Afghan National Army generals Baryalai Sharifi and Abdul Mujeeb Ghairat, and Faheema Safi.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmed and Justice Kamran Hayat heard the writ petitions. The petitioners whose deportation was suspended are former Afghan General Mohammad Naveed Omari and Afghan journalists Syed Inamullah Salehi and Syed Munir Ahmad Hadaf.
The court directed the Ministry of Interior to decide their cases within two months.
