Girls dominate Abbottabad matric examinations

Female students swept the top positions in the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examinations conducted by the Abbottabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), outperforming their male counterparts across both Science and Arts groups.

The results, announced at a ceremony held at the board's auditorium, showed that a total of 145,044 candidates appeared in the Class IX and X examinations, of whom 104,171 passed. The overall pass percentage stood at 80% for Class X and 64.45% for Class IX.

In the Science Group, Ayesha Zaib of Tameer-i-Watan School, Mansehra, secured first position with 1,167 marks, followed by Fatima Jadoon of Tameer-i-Watan School and College, Abbottabad, with 1,163 marks. Uswa Mehreen, also from Tameer-i-Watan School, Mansehra, claimed third place with 1,160 marks.

In the Arts Group, Zainab Bibi of Government Girls High School Baldher topped the results with 1,131 marks. Zainab Tahir and Khansa Bibi, both from Government High School Sarai Saleh, secured second and third positions with 1,075 and 1,072 marks, respectively.

In the Class X Science Group, 15,345 out of 18,917 female candidates passed the examination, while 30,177 of 35,112 male candidates were declared successful. In the Class X Arts Group, 7,061 of 11,093 female candidates passed, compared with 5,372 of 7,556 male candidates, resulting in an overall pass rate of 80 per cent.
