Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit DINKS, a new improvised multi-camera sitcom from Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman.

The comedy stars real-life married couple June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer, with Jon Gabrus joining the cast as a series regular.

Short for “Dual Income, No Kids,” DINKS follows a married couple who, instead of raising children, decide to build a life together by renovating their dream home, which quickly turns into a renovation nightmare. The project marks several firsts for Prime Video, becoming the streamer’s first-ever multi-camera sitcom as well as its first improvised comedy in the format.

Kauffman co-created the series with Hannah K.S. Canter, with both serving as executive producers under their Okay Goodnight banner. Raphael and Scheer also executive produce alongside starring, while Robbie Rowe Tollin and Jesse Schiller round out the producing team. Amazon originally commissioned a pilot for the project in 2024 before granting a full series order.

The sitcom is being produced through an unusual financing partnership involving Amazon MGM Studios, Lionsgate Television and Publicis Media Content Innovation (PMCI). Under the agreement, PMCI will fully finance the series, offering an alternative model to traditional television production.

Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios, praised Kauffman’s ability to reinvent the multi-camera sitcom format, while Lionsgate executives described the series as both innovative and relatable.

Kauffman is best known for co-creating the iconic sitcom Friends and Netflix’s Grace and Frankie. DINKS adds another comedy to Prime Video’s growing slate as the streaming platform continues expanding its original television lineup.
