Hideo Kojima has shared his verdict on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, praising the latest Marvel film for its approach to continuing Tom Holland's Spider-Man story while introducing a fresh direction for the character.

The renowned video game creator, who frequently posts film reviews on social media, shared his thoughts on X after watching the film.

His recent reviews have also covered Supergirl, The Mandalorian and Grogu, Avatar: Fire and Ash and The Long Walk.

Kojima described Spider-Man: Brand New Day as a fresh take on Peter Parker's story following the events of the previous film.

"Watched 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' A lonely hero. A lonely Spidey. A lonely Peter Parker. It felt fresh, and I really enjoyed it," Kojima wrote.

Kojima also reflected on the challenges facing modern blockbuster filmmakers, suggesting that balancing creative ambitions with audience expectations has become increasingly difficult in the social media era.

"In the age of social media and its immense power to amplify every opinion, striking the right balance between what filmmakers want to create and what audiences expect has become incredibly difficult," he observed.

He concluded that genuine, heartfelt filmmaking is becoming increasingly challenging, adding that the film puts the "Brand" in "Brand New Day" to the test as part of a franchise that cannot afford to fail.
