Balochistan launches targeted polio campaign
A special anti-polio vaccination campaign will begin across 62 high-risk union councils in 13 districts of Balochistan on Monday (today).
Health authorities aim to immunise more than 200,000 children under the age of five against the crippling disease.
The targeted campaign comes as Pakistan enters the peak polio transmission season, when higher temperatures between May and September create favourable conditions for the virus to spread.
Officials say transmission typically declines from late September until early May. Teams will administer oral polio drops to children under five.
