RAWALPINDI:

A high-level inquiry has been launched into the target killing of businessman Sardar Irshad on Adiala Road and allegations against a former CCD SHO.

Additional IGP CCD Suhail Chattha visited Rawalpindi and, along with other officials, met the complainant's family, a senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officer and other relevant persons and reviewed the evidence presented by the complainants.

The victim's family had earlier approached the CPO, alleging that despite the deaths of four suspects in an alleged police encounter, the actual masterminds behind the conspiracy had not been identified.

They also sought the nomination and investigation of the former CCD SHO and called for an independent inquiry commission.

Sources said the meetings continued for 12 to 14 hours, during which CCD officers, including the former SHO, were also called in. Senior officers reviewed records allegedly showing the former SHO's contacts with certain individuals linked to the case in KP.
