Paris Jackson fires back at critics questioning whether her music suits her

Paris Jackson has responded to critics who questioned whether her music style fits her image, defending her artistic choices and explaining why she continues to explore different sounds.

The singer and musician addressed the online comments in an Instagram Stories video, saying she has recently avoided reading negative reactions but occasionally becomes aware of criticism from social media users. Jackson, 28, said one comment compared music that does not "suit" her to being with the wrong person.

Jackson questioned the criticism while discussing her current performances with rock band The Pretty Reckless, led by Taylor Momsen. During the tour, she has showcased her musical versatility, including performances featuring a trumpet solo and covers of songs outside her usual style.

"So as far as the 'music that doesn't suit me' bit, this person means either one of two things," Jackson said, referring to her different musical choices. She added that she was confused about what type of music critics believed matched her if both her experimental performances and grunge-inspired work were considered unsuitable.

The daughter of late pop icon Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe, Paris Jackson has built her own career as a singer, songwriter and performer while moving away from being defined solely by her famous family.
