Sarah Pidgeon reveals her unexpected dream story for 'Love Story' season 2

Sarah Pidgeon has shared her vision for a potential Love Story season 2, suggesting that Ryan Murphy’s hit anthology series should move away from a traditional romance and instead explore a more unconventional relationship.

The actress, who earned her first Emmy nomination for portraying Carolyn Bessette in FX’s Love Story, discussed the future of the anthology during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Pidgeon said she believes a second season should avoid a “classic love story” and instead focus on a different kind of emotional connection.

As an example, she proposed artist Robert Mapplethorpe and musician Patti Smith, whose lifelong friendship and creative partnership was chronicled in Smith’s memoir Just Kids. Pidgeon described their bond as a unique love story that extends beyond conventional romance.

The first season of Love Story, created by Connor Hines and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, dramatized the relationship between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. According to Pidgeon, the series has become a career-defining project, leading to her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series.

The actress also reflected on working alongside co-star Paul Anthony Kelly, praising his portrayal of John F. Kennedy Jr. and expressing disappointment that he did not receive an Emmy nomination. She credited the ensemble cast for helping make the series one of the most-watched limited series on Hulu and Disney+.

While FX has not officially announced Love Story season 2, Pidgeon said she expects Ryan Murphy and his creative team to choose an unexpected story if the anthology continues. For now, fans are waiting to see which real-life relationship could inspire the next chapter of the acclaimed series.
