'Off Campus' star Stephen Kalyn comes under fire over political views after fans notice his Instagram likes

Stephen Kalyn, one of the stars of Amazon Prime Video's hit romantic drama Off Campus, has come under scrutiny from fans after screenshots of his Instagram activity circulated online, showing that he liked several posts from podcast host Joe Rogan and content linked to conservative political figures and causes.

The screenshots, shared across fan communities, show Kalyn liking multiple posts by Rogan spanning several years.

Among them is a 2020 post mocking people who wore face masks while driving during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another liked post features a 2021 meme reading, "THE YEAR IS 2034, THE "CASH ME OUTSIDE" GIRL IS PRESIDENT, THERE ARE 67,298 GENDERS, IT'S ILLEGAL TO HAVE A OPINION. I'M THE LAST STRAIGHT MALE, THIS IS MY STORY."

The screenshots also appear to show Kalyn liking a November 2024 post celebrating Donald Trump's US presidential election victory, alongside a caption that reads, "To our next president fighting to bring this country back to being the greatest country in the world. God bless you and God bless America."

In addition, Kalyn appears to have liked Rogan's 2022 post sharing a Fox News headline claiming that fake Twitter accounts disproportionately supported Amber Heard during the Johnny Depp defamation trial. Rogan added the caption, "I'm surprised it's only 11%."

The social media activity has prompted discussion among Off Campus fan groups, with some viewers arguing that the likes align Kalyn with support for Rogan, Johnny Depp, MAGA Republicans, Charlie Kirk and broader conservative political messaging.

Others have cautioned that liking social media posts does not necessarily indicate endorsement of every opinion expressed by the account or post.

The discussion has also expanded to other members of the cast. Fans have pointed to Instagram activity from actors Khobe Clarke and Jalen Thomas Brooks, alleging they have previously liked posts by Joe Rogan and content critical of former US President Joe Biden.

Rogan remains one of the world's most influential podcast hosts but has also been a polarising public figure.

He has faced sustained criticism for promoting COVID-19 misinformation, questioning vaccines for some groups, discussing unproven treatments including ivermectin, and hosting guests accused of spreading conspiracy theories.

Soon after fans noticed the actors' social media activity, the likes disappeared from the posts.

Kalyn, who is Canadian, plays Dean Di Laurentis in Off Campus, based on Elle Kennedy's bestselling novels.

He is poised to play the male lead opposite Mika Abdalla's Allie Hayes in the upcoming season 2 which is currently in production.

At the time of writing, Stephen Kalyn has not publicly commented on the screenshots or the online discussion surrounding his Instagram activity.
