Yung Filly found not guilty of rape charges but guilty for assault in Australia

UK rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly has been found not guilty of three counts of sexual penetration without consent following a trial in Western Australia, while being convicted on two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The 30-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in a hotel room after performing at a nightclub in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth, in 2024.

A jury returned not guilty verdicts on three rape charges, but could not reach a verdict on three other rape-related counts. Barrientos was also found not guilty of one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of strangulation.

According to local media, Barrientos cried as the verdicts were delivered. He remains on bail until August 21, when the court is expected to set a sentencing date for the assault convictions.

Prosecutors will also decide whether to pursue a retrial on the three charges where the jury was unable to reach a verdict.

Throughout the trial, Barrientos pleaded not guilty to all charges. He told the court he had been attracted to the woman after meeting her at the concert venue and denied touching her inappropriately before they went to his hotel.

"I recall putting my hand on her waist," he said, while denying he put his hands down her trousers or touched her breast.

The court heard the pair had consensual sex before the woman alleged Barrientos became violent and ignored repeated requests to stop. Barrientos denied those allegations but admitted biting her, describing it as a "love bite".

The prosecution argued Barrientos had assaulted the woman, while the defence maintained the complainant's account contained "inconsistencies, embellishments and outright lies".
