Paramount’s 'Possession' remake grows bigger with three new cast members

Paramount Pictures has expanded the cast of its upcoming Possession remake, adding Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen and Nicholas Alexander Chavez to the supernatural horror thriller.

The trio joins previously announced stars Margaret Qualley, Callum Turner, Paul Dano and Diego Calva in the highly anticipated reimagining of the 1981 cult classic.

The new Possession remake will be directed by Smile filmmaker Parker Finn, who also wrote the screenplay. Finn is producing the project alongside Jonathan Fass through their Bad Feeling banner, while Roy Lee and Andrew Childs are producing through Vertigo. Actor Robert Pattinson is also attached as a producer, with Marc Bienstock serving as executive producer.

The original Possession, released in 1981, follows a woman whose increasingly disturbing behaviour begins after she asks her husband for a divorce. As suspicions of infidelity grow, the story takes a shocking supernatural turn, earning the film a lasting reputation as one of horror cinema’s most unsettling psychological thrillers.

Madeline Brewer joins the project following acclaimed performances in The Handmaid’s Tale and Netflix’s You. Emory Cohen recently appeared in A24’s Marty Supreme, while Nicholas Alexander Chavez received widespread praise for portraying Lyle Menendez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story before reuniting with Ryan Murphy for Grotesquerie.

With an award-winning cast and Parker Finn at the helm, Paramount’s Possession remake is shaping up to be one of the studio’s most anticipated horror releases. The combination of established stars and rising talent has heightened expectations as production continues on the modern adaptation of the influential psychological horror film.
