Netflix has released a new trailer for the fifth and final season of Outer Banks, offering fans another look at the Pogues’ last adventure while announcing a special farewell event ahead of the series finale.

The latest Outer Banks season 5 trailer raises the stakes as John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) face their most dangerous mission yet. The footage shows further destruction after Poguelandia appears to be demolished, leaving the group with nowhere to turn.

One of the trailer’s biggest reveals centres on Kiara, who remains devastated following JJ’s death in season 4. While searching for the legendary Blue Crown, she references an ancient legend claiming the mystical crown has the power to bring back the dead, fuelling speculation about whether the final season could revisit JJ’s fate. Netflix has not confirmed any return for Rudy Pankow.

Alongside the new trailer, Netflix announced Pogues For Life: A Fan Farewell Event, taking place in Los Angeles on August 15. The celebration will include the inaugural Pogue Awards, where fans can vote for their favourite moments from all five seasons. Cast members Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Carlacia Grant and Drew Starkey are also scheduled to participate in a live discussion before a screening of the season premiere.

According to Deadline, the final season follows the Pogues after JJ’s tragic death as they battle Chandler Groff, Dalia and other enemies while racing to recover the Blue Crown and secure the future they have been chasing since the series began.

Outer Banks season 5 premieres on Netflix on August 20, 2026, bringing the hit adventure series to its conclusion.
