'Jumanji: Open World' trailer reunites Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black for final film

Sony has released the first trailer for Jumanji: Open World, giving fans an early look at the third and final film in the rebooted Jumanji franchise.

The teaser sees Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan reprise their roles as the video game avatars first introduced in 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

The quartet also returned for 2019's Jumanji: The Next Level, with the two films earning more than $1.7 billion at the global box office.

The rebooted series reimagined the 1995 original Jumanji, which starred the late Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst.

Instead of a magical board game, the newer films centred on a video game that transports a group of teenagers into a virtual world, where they take on the identities of Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan's characters.

The newly released trailer suggests the franchise will continue its established blend of action, comedy and body-swap humour that defined the previous two instalments.

Alongside the returning core cast, several familiar faces are back for the final chapter, including Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Marin Hinkle, Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris and Rhys Darby. New additions to the cast include Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes.

Jake Kasdan returns to direct after helming the previous two reboot films. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film is produced by Matt Tolmach, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Kasdan.

Sony has also adjusted the film's release schedule. Jumanji: Open World was originally set to open on December 11 but will now arrive in cinemas on Christmas.
