Magic: The Gathering has revealed the first card from its upcoming The Hobbit crossover set, giving fans an early look at Glóin, one of the dwarves from J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved fantasy novel.

The exclusive spoiler, unveiled by Variety, showcases Glóin as a legendary creature card designed around his reputation for amassing treasure. The card's abilities allow players to generate Treasure tokens and reward strategies built around sacrificing them, reflecting the dwarf's role in Tolkien's world and his family's enduring connection to wealth and adventure.

Glóin is best known as one of the 13 dwarves who accompanied Bilbo Baggins on the quest to reclaim Erebor in The Hobbit. He is also the father of Gimli, who later becomes a key member of the Fellowship in The Lord of the Rings, making him one of the saga's most significant family figures.

The The Hobbit set forms part of Magic: The Gathering's Universes Beyond series, which brings together iconic franchises from across popular culture. It follows successful collaborations with The Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy, Fallout and Marvel, continuing Wizards of the Coast's strategy of expanding the trading card game beyond its original fantasy universe.

More cards from the The Hobbit expansion are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks ahead of the set's launch, with fans eager to see how other beloved characters from Tolkien's classic novel will be adapted for the game.
