First reactions hail 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' as Tom Holland's strongest Spider-Man film

The first reactions to Spider-Man: Brand New Day are in, and early viewers are calling it one of the strongest entries in Tom Holland's Spider-Man franchise.

Following the film's Los Angeles premiere on July 27, critics and entertainment journalists took to social media to praise the Marvel sequel's emotional storytelling, action sequences and visuals.

Esquire associate entertainment editor Eric Francisco described the film as "one of the best" Spider-Man movies, writing that it has a "strong emotional center, blistering action, deeply sincere" storytelling and is "just excellent."

Entertainment reporter Jonathan Sim also praised the movie's visuals, calling it the "best MCU Spider-Man movie" from a cinematography standpoint. He highlighted its dynamic action scenes and praised the film's striking visual style.

Meanwhile, Germain Lussier of Gizmodo admitted the movie left him emotional, saying he was "crying" after the screening. He described Brand New Day as an ambitious film that successfully balances multiple storylines before bringing them together in a satisfying conclusion.

The fourth Spider-Man film picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the world forgot Peter Parker's identity. Alongside returning stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, the sequel introduces newcomers Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, with full reviews expected closer to its release. Early reactions, however, suggest Marvel may have another fan favorite on its hands.
