Morgan Spector stars as Robert Langdon in Netflix’s adaptation of Dan Brown’s mystery thriller 'The Secret of Secrets'

Morgan Spector has officially been cast as Robert Langdon in Netflix’s upcoming series adaptation of Dan Brown’s mystery thriller novel The Secret of Secrets.

The actor, known for roles in The Gilded Age and Black Rabbit, will take over the iconic character previously portrayed by Tom Hanks in the Da Vinci Code film franchise.

According to Deadline, Spector has closed a deal to lead the Netflix series, which is being developed by bestselling author Dan Brown and Lost creator Carlton Cuse. The project will bring Brown’s latest Robert Langdon story to television, combining elements of mystery, science and historical intrigue.

Robert Langdon is a Harvard professor and world-renowned symbologist known for his exceptional memory and ability to solve complex puzzles involving art, history and spirituality. In The Secret of Secrets, Langdon faces another dangerous mystery when he races against time to find his missing girlfriend, a scientist whose groundbreaking research could change humanity’s understanding of the human mind.

Rebecca Hall is also expected to join the series in a leading role. The show will be co-created and executive produced by Brown and Cuse, with Cuse serving as writer and showrunner. Emma Forman, Zoe Robyn and Cuse’s Genre Arts banner are also attached as executive producers.

Cuse praised Spector’s casting, describing him as an actor who brings intelligence, depth and humanity to his performances. He added that Spector was an ideal choice to portray Langdon’s curiosity, intellect and problem-solving abilities.

Spector’s new role will not affect his work on HBO’s The Gilded Age, where he plays railroad businessman George Russell. The actor is expected to continue both projects depending on production schedules.

Netflix ordered The Secret of Secrets series straight-to-series in 2025 following the publication of Brown’s novel by Doubleday.
