Rebecca Luna, the TikTok creator who openly documented her experience living with young-onset Alzheimer's disease, has died at the age of 49.
According to a statement shared on her TikTok account, Luna died on July 25 while surrounded by loved ones. The post thanked supporters for their compassion and asked for privacy for her family.
Luna, a single mother from Victoria, British Columbia, first shared her diagnosis publicly in April 2025. Over the following year, she built a large online following by posting candid updates about her condition, medical appointments, and the realities of living with young-onset Alzheimer's.
Her videos also focused on advocacy, sharing information and resources related to end-of-life care and medical aid in dying (MAID), which is legal under specific circumstances in Canada.
In one of her final updates, Luna explained that she had decided to move forward with her planned MAID date after reflecting on her quality of life. She described the decision as deeply personal and thanked supporters who had followed her journey.
