Hudson Williams disappears into supernatural mystery in first trailer for 'Yaga'

Hudson Williams is stepping away from the world of hockey romance and into supernatural horror in the first trailer for Yaga, the upcoming mystery series inspired by the Slavic legend of Baba Yaga.

Released ahead of the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel, the trailer introduces Williams as Henry Park, the missing heir to a powerful fishing dynasty whose disappearance sets off a chain of unsettling events in a mysterious coastal town.

The series follows Rapp (Noah Reid), a private investigator who arrives to search for Henry, only to find himself drawn into a labyrinth of ancient folklore, hidden identities and dark magic. As the investigation deepens, the town's residents begin to reveal secrets that blur the line between myth and reality.

Williams appears throughout the trailer in flashbacks and mysterious encounters, including scenes opposite Carrie-Anne Moss, who plays university professor Katherine. Entertainment Weekly previously revealed that Moss and Williams share a significant on-screen relationship, teasing an unexpected dynamic between their characters.

The cast also includes Clark Backo as local detective Carson, Sheila McCarthy as the enigmatic Olena Yaha and Patrick Gilmore, with the series created by playwright Kat Sandler, who adapted her own 2019 stage play for television.

Sandler has described Yaga as a collision of "folklore, fairy tale, noir thriller, police procedural, horror and feminist fantasy," reimagining the Baba Yaga myth through a contemporary lens while exploring the question of what truly makes someone a witch.

The Canadian original will premiere on Crave before expanding internationally through AMC+ in the United States, Sky in the UK and Ireland, HBO Max across parts of Europe and additional global platforms later this year.

For Williams, Yaga marks his first major television role since breaking out in Heated Rivalry, showcasing a dramatically different side of the actor as he trades romance for a haunting supernatural mystery.
