White House responds after Reacher star Alan Ritchson's Epstein files criticism

The White House has responded after Reacher star Alan Ritchson publicly criticised the Trump administration over its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, accusing officials of failing to follow through on promises of transparency.

During an appearance on The Chris Cuomo Project podcast, Ritchson said he was frustrated that the administration had not released all of the remaining Epstein-related documents, arguing that the issue should not be viewed through a partisan lens.

"Whether you're Republican or Democrat, we should all want the truth," Ritchson said, adding that the American public deserved full transparency surrounding the case. 

The actor also criticised what he described as shifting messaging from government officials, saying people had been promised additional disclosures that had yet to materialise.

His remarks prompted a response from White House spokesperson Harrison Fields, who dismissed Ritchson's comments in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

"Alan Ritchson should stick to acting," Fields said, adding that the administration remains focused on "delivering results for the American people" rather than responding to celebrity opinions. 

The exchange comes amid renewed public interest in the Epstein investigation and ongoing political debate over what records should be made public. The issue has drawn criticism from figures across the political spectrum, with some calling for the release of additional investigative files and court documents.

Ritchson, who has previously been outspoken on political and social issues, has not responded publicly to the White House's remarks.

The actor currently stars as Jack Reacher in Prime Video's hit action series Reacher, which has become one of the streamer's most successful original shows. While his latest comments focused on government transparency rather than party politics, they have sparked fresh discussion online about the handling of the Epstein files and the role celebrities play in political debate.
