Bret Michaels shares hospital update after battling severe pain during tour

Bret Michaels has undergone surgery after pushing through intense pain from a kidney stone while performing multiple shows on his ongoing North American tour.

The Poison frontman, 63, shared a health update with fans on social media, revealing that he performed three concerts while dealing with a kidney stone that would not pass for nearly a week. Michaels said the pain became increasingly severe before he was admitted to the hospital following a performance.

In a post featuring a photo of himself recovering in a hospital bed, Michaels thanked the doctors, nurses and medical staff who helped him during his treatment.

“I’m doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I’ve got a complete clean bill of health,” Michaels wrote.

The singer explained that the kidney stone caused “intense” pain during his performances, including a special show dedicated to veterans, active-duty military members and their families. Shortly afterward, he was taken to the hospital when the discomfort became unbearable.

Michaels confirmed that the operation to remove the kidney stone was successful and that he was recovering after surgery. He also joked that he went directly from the concert to the hospital before eventually being changed into a hospital gown.

The rocker is expected to continue his North American tour, with his next scheduled performance set for July 31 in Belleville, Illinois. His tour is currently planned to run through September.

This is not the first recent health challenge for Michaels, who has lived with diabetes since childhood. In 2025, he revealed he experienced a diabetes-related scare that forced him to reconsider his demanding touring schedule. Despite these challenges, Michaels continues to perform and connect with fans worldwide.
