Gerard Piqué and his girlfriend, Clara Chía Martí, are once again making headlines after the former footballer was spotted in the stands during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, where his ex-partner, Shakira, delivered the tournament's historic halftime performance.

The renewed attention has also brought the couple's 12-year age gap back into the spotlight.

Piqué, 39, and Chía, 27, were first linked in 2022, just months after the former Barcelona defender and Shakira announced the end of their 11-year relationship. According to previous reports, the pair met when Chía began working at Kosmos, Piqué's sports and entertainment company, while she was still a student.

Their relationship became public later that year after they were photographed together at events in Spain. In January 2023, Piqué appeared to make the romance Instagram official by sharing a selfie of the two together, though he did not include a caption.

Over the years, the couple have kept a relatively low profile despite continued public interest. Reports have previously claimed that Piqué told friends he felt "younger" while dating Chía, although he has not publicly addressed those remarks.

The relationship has remained closely linked to Piqué's split from Shakira, whose music has frequently referenced the breakup. In 2023, the singer's hit collaboration BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53 included lyrics widely interpreted as criticism of both Piqué and Chía, fueling global discussion about the former couple's separation.

More recently, Shakira reflected on the end of the relationship during an interview, saying the experience taught her she was stronger than she had once believed. The singer said she discovered a new sense of resilience after navigating one of the most challenging periods of her life.

Although Piqué's appearance at the World Cup final reignited online conversation surrounding his personal life, neither he nor Chía has publicly commented on the renewed attention. The couple continue to keep their relationship largely out of the spotlight while remaining one of football's most talked-about pairs.
