Anne Hathaway became visibly emotional after Whoopi Goldberg paid her a heartfelt tribute during an appearance on The View, with the Oscar winner admitting she would have cried "even if I wasn't pregnant."

Hathaway joined co-star Matt Damon and director Christopher Nolan on the ABC daytime show to promote their blockbuster The Odyssey when Goldberg took a moment to reflect on watching the actress grow throughout her career.

"It's been wonderful watching you grow up," Goldberg told Hathaway. "You've just blossomed into this fabulous actress." She continued by praising Hathaway's talent and career, insisting she deserved to hear the compliments.

The unexpected tribute left Hathaway wiping away tears as she buried her face in her hands before thanking Goldberg.

"I'd be crying even if I wasn't pregnant right now," Hathaway joked, prompting laughter from the audience. The actress, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, added that Goldberg's words meant a great deal to her.

Goldberg also shared warm words for Matt Damon, recalling that she has watched his career flourish over the years and calling him one of Hollywood's consistently great performers. Damon responded by thanking the longtime The View moderator for her kindness and support.

The emotional interview came during a busy promotional tour for The Odyssey, which has dominated the global box office since its release. Hathaway has experienced several touching moments while promoting the film, including tearing up during an appearance on the Today show after receiving an elaborate Trojan Horse-themed baby gift celebrating her pregnancy.

Beyond The Odyssey, Hathaway is enjoying one of the busiest years of her career, with upcoming projects including The Devil Wears Prada 2, Mother Mary, The End of Oak Street and Verity. Goldberg's tribute recognised not only Hathaway's recent success but also the evolution of an actress whose career has spanned more than two decades.

The heartfelt exchange quickly resonated with viewers, who praised Goldberg for celebrating Hathaway's achievements in such a personal way. For Hathaway, the moment served as an emotional reminder of how much respect she has earned from one of Hollywood's most admired performers.
