Xzibit's 20-year old pet cat goes viral online as rapper reveals secret behind her long life

Xzibit has shared the care routine behind his 20-year-old cat, Thunder Cat, after the feline became a viral sensation on social media, with fans asking how the pet has lived well beyond the average lifespan for a domestic cat.

The rapper posted a video answering the question he says he is asked most often. “Most asked question: How did you keep her alive so long? (20 + years),” he wrote in the caption. “Well here is the answer!” He also included a link to Thunder Cat’s own Instagram page.

In the video, Xzibit explained that Thunder Cat has been part of his life since 2006, when he was hosting MTV’s Pimp My Ride, and credited her longevity to consistent care and affection. 

“She’s seen it all,” he said. “And everybody’s asking how I’ve kept her alive for this long. Well first of all, I love my cat.”

The rapper said Thunder Cat is fed a combination of dry and wet food, with Fancy Feast given as an occasional reward. “She likes junk food also so I give her this [Fancy Feast] when she’s on her best behavior,” he said.

Xzibit also revealed that Thunder Cat previously experienced kidney and thyroid problems and receives veterinary care, including fluids administered through an IV by a vet to help manage her health.

The rapper said he has long been surprised by the affection fans have shown towards his pet. “People have loved my cat as much as I have for a long time,” he said. “People send me s**t all the time associated with my cat. The fact that this has gone crazy is beyond me.”

He ended the video by showing a sweatshirt covered in images of Thunder Cat, a gift from a fan, adding, “And yes, I’ve worn this before.”

The video has since attracted widespread attention online, with many social media users praising both Thunder Cat’s remarkable age and Xzibit’s commitment to caring for his longtime companion.
