Game of Thrones: War for Westeros has resurfaced with a new development update, confirming that the upcoming real-time strategy game has been delayed until early 2027.

Developed by PlaySide, the studio behind the publishing of Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the PC strategy title is based on HBO's Game of Thrones television series.

The game was originally scheduled to launch in 2026 after being announced during the Summer Game Fest 2025 opening showcase but had received little public attention since its reveal.

In a post published on Steam, PlaySide confirmed the revised release window.

"War for Westeros will now launch in early 2027," the developer said. "We remain unwavering in our mission to deliver a real-time strategy game set in the world of Westeros that meets the expectations of both RTS players and Game of Thrones fans. This decision gives us the time needed to continue building towards that goal and ensure that the game reaches the high level of quality we are aiming for."

Alongside the announcement, the studio shared new gameplay footage highlighting several of the game's core features, including playable factions, hero abilities, heavy cavalry units and expansive battle maps.

The footage suggests the game will offer large-scale strategic battles in a style familiar to fans of established real-time strategy franchises, while bringing iconic Game of Thrones locations and armies into the genre.
