Old School RuneScape crossover brings Lumbridge map to popular game Meccha Chameleon

Old School RuneScape's iconic Lumbridge arrives in Meccha Chameleon through community-created Steam Workshop map

Old School RuneScape has officially crossed over with indie multiplayer title Meccha Chameleon, introducing the iconic town of Lumbridge as a playable map through the game's Steam Workshop.

Developer Jagex collaborated with community creators 8sat and Soup to recreate one of RuneScape's most recognisable locations for the multiplayer hide-and-seek game, where players disguise themselves by matching their surroundings.

Announcing the collaboration on July 19, the official Old School RuneScape account asked, "Ever wanted to play Meccha Chameleon in RuneScape?"

The free Workshop map recreates Lumbridge's distinctive low-poly style, featuring the castle grounds, nearby buildings, riverside areas, fences and several familiar non-player characters throughout the town.

According to the Steam Workshop description, Lumbridge is "the most iconic area in Runescape, now playable in Meccha Chameleon."

The creators also credited Jagex, Mod Frogs, Sofa, Synq and ConnorDY for their contributions to the project.

The map includes a range of RuneScape-inspired props and items, including a purple partyhat, dragonfire shield and pieces of Third Age armour, allowing players to blend into the environment while competing in matches.

The map was first published on July 10 before receiving a public release update on July 15. By the time Jagex officially promoted the crossover on July 19, it had already attracted nearly 50,000 subscribers on the Steam Workshop.

Players can access the map free of charge, although ownership of Meccha Chameleon on Steam is required. After subscribing to the "Oldschool Lumbridge" Workshop page, Steam downloads the approximately 122MB file, after which players can select the map when creating a multiplayer lobby.
