Sydney Sweeney's new underwear design sparked fan speculation over phrase linked to Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun

Sydney Sweeney has sparked online speculation after unveiling a new design from her SYRN underwear collection, with some fans questioning whether a slogan on the item references Taylor Swift.

The actress recently promoted a new range from her underwear brand on Instagram, including a pair featuring the phrase "but daddy I love him".

Sweeney described the collection as featuring some of her "little sayings", but the wording quickly drew attention online because it is also the title of a song from Swift's 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department.

The discussion gained momentum because of Sweeney's reported romance with music executive Scooter Braun, whose long-running dispute with Swift over ownership of her early music catalogue attracted widespread attention.

Braun acquired Big Machine Records, giving him ownership of Swift's first six studio albums before later selling the catalogue. Swift eventually regained ownership of her original masters in 2025.

Some social media users interpreted the slogan as a possible dig at Swift, with one describing the move as "messy". Others rejected that interpretation, arguing there is no evidence Sweeney intended the phrase as a reference to the singer.

One Swift fan defended the actress, writing, "I don't love her, but 'but daddy I love him' isn't from the Taylor Swift song; it's a line in 'The Little Mermaid.'"

Speaking recently about dating in the public eye, Sweeney acknowledged the challenges of navigating relationships under public scrutiny.

"I understand that I'm a public person, but I'm still in my 20s," she said.

She added, "It's hard deciding that I want to experience love in the public eye. I'm just navigating it all."
