Noah Kahan fans furious after waiting through storm before last-minute New York concert cancellation

Fans argued that the decision should've been made earlier to avoid unnecessary travel and hours soaking in heavy rain

Noah Kahan fans have voiced their frustration after the singer's sold-out concert at New York City's Citi Field was cancelled at the last minute, with many saying they spent hours waiting through severe weather only for the show to be called off shortly before it was due to begin.

The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform at the Queens stadium on Saturday, 18 July, as part of his The Great Divide Tour. Earlier in the day, organisers delayed the opening of the venue and cancelled the support acts as thunderstorms and tornado warnings moved through the area. Parking lots still opened for fans, many of whom travelled long distances to attend the show.

Eventually, Citi Field announced that the concert would not go ahead.

"New York City update: The show tonight at Citi Field has been canceled due to inclement weather," the venue posted on social media. "This was a very difficult decision to make, but the first priority is always to keep everyone safe."

Ticket holders who purchased through Ticketmaster were told they would receive automatic refunds, while others were advised to contact their point of purchase.

Despite acknowledging the dangerous conditions, many fans criticised the handling of the cancellation, arguing that the decision should have been made much earlier to avoid unnecessary travel and hours spent waiting in heavy rain.

Some concertgoers also expressed disappointment that the performance was cancelled outright rather than rescheduled. Others took to social media asking for tickets to Kahan's second scheduled Citi Field show the following night after missing the opportunity to see him perform. One fan wrote that they had flown from Mexico for the concert, while another said they had been "robbed" of a night they had been anticipating for months.

Before the cancellation, Kahan appeared unaware of just how severe the forecast had become. Earlier on Saturday, he jokingly posted on X about performing "Strawberry Wine" that evening, and when one follower asked whether he was worried about the reported tornado warning, he simply replied: "Tornado?"

The cancellation followed another weather-related disruption earlier in the tour, when Kahan was forced to call off a performance at Forest Hills Stadium due to severe storms. In that instance, he apologised to fans and said organisers had waited as long as possible before deciding conditions were no longer safe.

Kahan remains scheduled to continue The Great Divide Tour, with additional stadium dates across North America in the coming weeks.
