Drake places $1.5m bet on Argentina to beat Spain in World Cup final
Drake has backed Argentina to defeat Spain in 2026 FIFA World Cup final with $1.5m wager

Drake has placed a $1.5 million bet on Argentina to defeat Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, adding another high-profile wager to his long history of sports betting.
The Canadian rapper, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, shared a screenshot of the online bet on Stake ahead of Sunday's final at New York New Jersey Stadium.
According to the screenshot, Drake's wager on Argentina would return a payout of more than $5.1 million if the defending champions lift the trophy.
Sharing the image on Instagram, the 39-year-old wrote: "What's that saying??? Better luck next time…"
The bet has also reignited discussion around the so-called "Drake curse", a nickname given by fans to the belief that teams or athletes publicly backed by the musician often go on to lose.
The reputation has followed Drake for several years, with supporters frequently referencing his betting history and public appearances alongside sports stars before major events.
A website, TheDrakeCurse.com, has even been created to track his sports betting record and the results of his wagers.
The latest bet follows one of Drake's previous high-profile losses, when he reportedly staked $1 million on Irish mixed martial artist Conor McGregor to win his UFC bout against Max Holloway.
Away from sport, Drake returned to music earlier this year with the simultaneous release of three albums, Iceman, Maid Of Honour and Habibti in May.
