NCCIA summons Imran's sister over 'offensive' remarks

Alleges that Noreen Niazi spread 'false and inflammatory' content online

ISLAMABAD:

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has taken notice of an interview in which Noreen Niazi, one of the 3 sisters of former prime minister Imran Khan described the May 2025 confrontation between Pakistan and India as an "staged drama."

In an interview with a YouTuber, Noreen alleged that the four-day confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours formed part of a wider effort to persuade Pakistan to recognise Israel.

She claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could have "fixed" Pakistan within minutes had he genuinely intended to launch a full-scale confrontation.

"Modi could have fixed them in two minutes if he had wanted to. Why did Modi stop? What was he afraid of? India is such a large country. Look at that country and then look at yourselves," she said.

She alleged that Israel was "behind" the developments and claimed that Pakistan was being prepared to join countries that had established diplomatic relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords.

Responding to the statement that whipped up a storm on social media, the NCCIA issued a "Notice of Attendance" to Noreen, stating that she had disseminated "false, offensive and inflammatory" content on social media to defame state institutions.

The NCCIA directed Noreen Niazi to appear before an NCCIA sub-inspector in Islamabad tomorrow (Monday) at 12:00 noon. "In case of non-compliance, it will be assumed that you have nothing to state or present in your defence," it stated.
