Matt Damon stunned after learning Tom Holland has never seen this Keanu Reeves movie

Matt Damon was left genuinely shocked after discovering that his The Odyssey co-star Tom Holland has never seen The Matrix, calling the revelation "wild" and urging the younger actor to finally watch the sci-fi classic.

The moment came during Entertainment Weekly's latest Around the Table discussion, which brought together Damon, Holland, Christopher Nolan, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and John Leguizamo to celebrate the release of The Odyssey. 

The conversation turned to iconic films when Holland casually admitted he had never watched the 1999 blockbuster starring Keanu Reeves.

Damon could hardly believe it.

"You've never seen The Matrix?" he asked in disbelief before telling Holland, "You should watch it." 

Holland laughed off the reaction, admitting there are still several classic films he has yet to catch up on despite working in the film industry.

The exchange quickly became one of the funniest moments of the roundtable, with the rest of the cast amused by the generational divide over what many consider one of the most influential action films ever made. 

Released in 1999, The Matrix revolutionised modern action cinema with its groundbreaking visual effects, including its iconic "bullet time" sequences, and went on to win four Academy Awards. The film has since become a cultural landmark and is widely regarded as one of the defining science-fiction films of all time.

Damon and Holland are currently starring together in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, with Damon leading the cast as Odysseus and Holland portraying his son, Telemachus. The film also features Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong'o, Elliot Page and John Leguizamo.

The cast has shared a number of humorous behind-the-scenes stories while promoting the epic. Holland recently described Pattinson as his "safety blanket" on set, while Pattinson joked that Holland's dedication made it easy for him to play the antagonist.

Now, fans have one more mission for Holland before his next blockbuster: finally sitting down to watch The Matrix. As Damon made clear, it's a gap in the actor's film education that simply has to be fixed.
