Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Miranda Hope’s ex gets surprising DUI sentence

Chase McWhorter takes DUI plea deal, receiving probation, fines and community service instead of jail time

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Miranda Hope’s ex-husband Chase McWhorter has avoided jail time after reaching a plea deal in his DUI case.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, McWhorter pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dropped the remaining charges and recommended probation, community service and a substance abuse evaluation instead of a jail sentence. The judge approved the deal.

As part of his sentence, McWhorter was ordered to pay a $1,383 fine, complete 48 hours of community service and serve one year of probation.

The legal outcome comes nearly a year after McWhorter was arrested on suspicion of DUI and possession of a controlled substance. The arrest reportedly took place during the Fourth of July weekend in Utah.

Authorities said officers initiated the traffic stop after allegedly observing McWhorter’s vehicle drifting outside its lane multiple times. Police also claimed he showed signs of possible impairment, including the smell of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

McWhorter became known to viewers through his connection to Miranda Hope, who appeared on Hulu’s reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Their relationship and personal life have previously attracted attention from fans of the show.

The latest court decision allows McWhorter to avoid incarceration while completing the conditions set by the court. No further details about his probation requirements or substance abuse evaluation have been released publicly.
