Bugti vows stronger anti-terror drive

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Wednesday reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to strengthening peace and stability, saying terrorism remained a national challenge that required a united response from political and military leadership, backed by public support.

Chairing the 26th meeting of the Hardening of the State Conference, the chief minister reviewed the province's overall security situation, assessed ongoing counterterrorism efforts, and emphasized closer coordination among federal and provincial institutions to tackle emerging security challenges.

The participants expressed satisfaction over the progress of the joint Operation Shaban, being conducted by the army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, and police against terrorist elements. The forum pledged to intensify coordinated operations to dismantle militant networks and restore lasting peace across the province.

The meeting paid tribute to security personnel who lost their lives in the Hanna Urak and Mangi Dam incidents, describing their sacrifices as invaluable for the country's security. Participants vowed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be in vain and reiterated their resolve to continue counterterrorism operations until militancy was eradicated.

Addressing the conference, Bugti said terrorists and their facilitators would be brought to justice, adding that there was no place in Balochistan for elements working against the state. He also highlighted the provincial government's governance reforms, saying administrative improvements were being introduced to strengthen state institutions and improve public service delivery.

The chief minister said the government was working closely with security forces to maintain law and order while accelerating development, particularly in remote and underdeveloped areas. He stressed that sustainable peace could only be achieved through parallel efforts in security and socio-economic development.

The meeting was attended by representatives of federal and provincial departments, army, Frontier Corps, Pakistan Coast Guards, police, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Customs, and other relevant institutions. The conference concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthen the state's writ, protect the public, and maintain lasting peace across Balochistan through coordinated action.
