AJK police launch call record system
.

In a major step towards modernising criminal investigations, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police on Wednes-day launched a Call Detail Record (CDR) Man-agement System to enable digital analysis of telecommunication data and strengthen crime investigation.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Captain (Retd) Liaquat Ali Malik said the new system would equip in-vestigators with advanced digital tools to ana-lyse call detail records, identify communication links between suspects, reconstruct criminal networks, examine call patterns and where le-gally permissible, integrate mobile phone loca-tion data into investigations.
The ceremony attended by Chief Secretary Khushhal Khan also saw the distribution of 13 laptops installed with the specialised software to the heads of AJK's three police ranges and 10 district police chiefs.
"The CDR Management System will significantly enhance our investigative capacity by enabling faster and more scientific analysis of digital evi-dence," the IGP said. "It will help investigators identify criminal networks, facilitators and ac-complices while ensuring investigations are completed more efficiently and in accordance with the law."
He described the initiative as a major milestone in the transition towards technology-driven po-licing in the region.
The IGP also announced that the police depart-ment would launch a cyber patrolling pro-gramme to monitor the online activities of what he termed "anti-state and hostile elements". He said the initiative would serve as the foundation for establishing a dedicated cybercrime unit in the future.
"This is only the beginning," Malik said. "Our ob-jective is to build specialised expertise in cyber-crime investigations and develop the capacity to effectively respond to emerging digital threats."
