Pindi targets flour smuggling
The district administration has established nine special Food Department check posts across Rawalpindi district to curb the smuggling and illegal transportation of wheat and flour, with Rawalpindi Police deploying round-the-clock security to ensure uninterrupted operations and prevent any untoward incidents.
According to official arrangements, police personnel have been assigned to the check posts on a 24-hour basis, working in two 12-hour shifts. Each shift will operate under the supervision of a police supervisor and comprise one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), three armed police personnel and a communication set to maintain constant liaison with the control room and senior officers.
The check posts have been established at Brahma Bahtar Morr and City Flour Mill in the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar Police Station; Paswal near Sangjani Interchange, Gango Bahadur and Faruqia in the Taxila Police Station limits; M-1 Motorway Interchange and Fateh Jang Interchange within the Airport Police Station jurisdiction; Bewar in Kahuta; and Mangal Bypass in the Kallar Syedan area.
Under the security plan, seven check posts located in Potohar Division will function under the overall supervision of Potohar SP Sardar Babar Mumtaz, while DSP Taxila will serve as the operational in-charge. The remaining two check posts in Saddar Division will be supervised by Saddar SP Anam Sher, with Kahuta DSP Waqar Azeem overseeing day-to-day operations.
Police officials have been directed to ensure the continuous and secure functioning of the Food Department's enforcement teams.
