Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix join The Conjuring: First Communion as young Warrens
Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have begun production on The Conjuring: First Communion, the upcoming prequel in the popular Conjuring Universe.
New casting details reveal that Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix will portray younger versions of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Wareing, known for roles in The Long Walk and Manifest, has been cast as young Ed Warren, while Fix, who appeared in Orphan Black: Echoes and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, will play a younger Lorraine Warren. The casting marks a new chapter for the iconic horror franchise, which previously featured Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the adult versions of the famous couple.
Details about the storyline for The Conjuring: First Communion remain largely under wraps. However, the film will explore the early years of Ed and Lorraine Warren, adding another chapter to the supernatural history behind one of modern horror's most successful franchises.
Rodrigue Huart is directing the horror prequel from a screenplay written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. It is currently unknown whether Wilson and Farmiga will appear in any capacity in the upcoming film.
The Conjuring Universe has expanded into one of the biggest horror franchises in recent years, featuring films including The Conjuring, Annabelle, The Nun and their respective sequels and spin-offs. The latest instalment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, continued the story before the franchise moved toward new timelines and characters.
The Conjuring: First Communion is scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 10, 2027. Warner Bros. is also expanding the universe with The Revenge of La Llorona, a sequel to The Curse of La Llorona, set for release on April 9, 2027.
