Is TWICE's Jihyo leaving JYP? New report sparks major fan reaction
TWICE's Jihyo's future with JYP takes unexpected turn amid contract talks

TWICE leader Jihyo is reportedly preparing to leave JYP Entertainment after 21 years with the company, marking the end of one of K-pop's longest artist-agency relationships.
According to South Korean outlet JoyNews24, Jihyo has decided to part ways with JYP and is expected to establish a one-person agency to pursue solo activities tailored to her own artistic direction.
Despite the reported departure, the outlet claims Jihyo is expected to continue promoting as a member of TWICE by separating her individual contract from the group's activities. Similar arrangements have been adopted by several veteran K-pop groups, allowing members to pursue independent careers while remaining active with their groups.
JYP Entertainment has not confirmed the report. In a statement to JoyNews24, the agency said, "TWICE is currently in the period of discussing contract renewals, and we will provide an official statement once the matter is finalized."
Jihyo has been with JYP since joining the company as a trainee at a young age, spending 10 years training before debuting as TWICE's leader and main vocalist in 2015. Last year, the company even celebrated her 20th anniversary with JYP through special commemorative content.
TWICE previously renewed their contracts as a full group in 2022, successfully avoiding the so-called "seven-year curse" that has affected many K-pop acts. With the group's contracts reportedly up for renewal again this year, fans are closely watching to see how the members choose to balance individual careers with future group activities.
Neither Jihyo nor JYP Entertainment has issued any further statement regarding the reported plans.
