Marvel Studios is preparing one of its earliest blockbuster ticket launches yet, with premium format tickets for Avengers: Doomsday set to go on sale months before the film reaches cinemas. The unusual strategy gives eager fans the chance to secure seats well ahead of the superhero epic's December release while also confirming the film's expected runtime.
According to reports, domestic ticket sales for Infinity Vision screenings will begin on July 20, nearly five months before Avengers: Doomsday opens in cinemas on December 18. Infinity Vision is Disney's large format cinema brand, created to offer audiences an enhanced viewing experience on selected premium screens.
The early ticket release represents a significant shift in Hollywood's blockbuster marketing strategy. Studios traditionally wait until much closer to a film's release before opening ticket sales, but competition for premium screens has become increasingly fierce. Disney's move follows Warner Bros securing IMAX exclusivity for Dune Part III shortly after both films debut in December, encouraging Marvel to establish demand for its own premium format presentations as early as possible.
Alongside the advance ticket announcement, the reported runtime for Avengers: Doomsday has also surfaced. The film is currently expected to run for 165 minutes, or two hours and 45 minutes. While the final edit may change slightly before release, the runtime is unlikely to vary significantly once advance ticket schedules are finalised.
If the current length remains unchanged, Avengers: Doomsday will become one of Marvel's longest productions. It will run longer than 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, which lasted 149 minutes, while remaining shorter than 2019's Avengers: Endgame, which concluded after 181 minutes.
Marvel is also planning another treat for longtime fans before the new film arrives. Avengers: Endgame will return to selected cinemas on September 25 under the title Avengers: Endgame Encore, with Infinity Vision screenings giving audiences another opportunity to revisit one of the highest grossing films ever released. Avengers: Endgame earned approximately $2.8bn worldwide during its original theatrical run, placing it among the biggest box office successes in cinema history.
The early ticket rollout is expected to build momentum ahead of Marvel Studios' appearance at SAN DIEGO COMIC CON on July 25. Industry expectations suggest the event will feature the debut of the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, offering fans their clearest look yet at the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film reunites many familiar Marvel heroes while introducing Robert Downey Jr in an entirely new role as Doctor Doom after previously portraying Tony Stark and Iron Man throughout much of the franchise. Returning cast members include Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright and Simu Liu. They will be joined by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Rebecca Romijn among an expansive ensemble.
Directing duties once again fall to Anthony and Joe Russo, whose previous Marvel outings include Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Their return has fuelled considerable anticipation, with Avengers: Doomsday expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With advance ticket sales opening unusually early, an epic runtime now revealed and a major trailer expected within days, Marvel is steadily building excitement for one of the most anticipated superhero releases of 2026.
