Taylor Swift fans have once again demonstrated the extraordinary lengths they will go to own a piece of the singer's history, this time by snapping up tiny acrylic cubes filled with rubbish collected from the streets surrounding her wedding venue.
The unusual keepsakes emerged only days after Swift married NFL star Travis Kelce during a private ceremony at New York City's Madison Square Garden on July 3, 2026. While the wedding itself remained largely hidden from public view because of strict security measures, an unexpected souvenir quickly captured attention online.
New York artist Justin Gignac collected discarded items from the streets outside Madison Square Garden following the celebrations and sealed the debris inside his signature clear acrylic cubes. Each cube carried the inscription "JUST&T MARRIED! 7/3/26", referencing the newlyweds and the wedding date. The collection included everyday litter such as cigarette butts, bottle caps, candy wrappers, used plastic utensils and even an abandoned AirPod.
Priced at $25 each, the limited edition pieces sold out in less than 24 hours, highlighting the enormous demand for anything connected to Swift. Gignac has been creating his New York City Garbage art project since 2001, packaging rubbish collected from different locations and events to demonstrate how presentation can transform perceptions of ordinary objects. Over the years, he has sold more than 1,300 cubes to collectors across dozens of countries, with previous editions commemorating occasions such as New Year's Eve in Times Square and the World Series.
For Swift's wedding edition, the artist leaned into the playful nature of the project by referencing the lyrics of her song "New Year's Day", which mentions cleaning up "garbage on the floor after the party". That connection added another layer of appeal for dedicated fans, many of whom viewed the cubes as humorous but genuine pieces of pop culture history.
The frenzy surrounding the rubbish cubes also reflects the remarkable interest generated by Swift and Kelce's wedding. Reports suggested the lavish celebration welcomed around 1,000 guests from across entertainment, music and professional sports. High profile attendees were said to include Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Simone Biles, while music legends Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks reportedly performed during the festivities.
Organisers transformed Madison Square Garden into an intimate venue by concealing much of the arena with elaborate floral displays and decorative draping. Guests were also reportedly required to surrender their mobile phones before entering, helping ensure that very few photographs or videos emerged from the private event.
As interest surrounding the wedding continued to grow, another unusual item also surfaced online. According to reports, someone listed a bag allegedly containing air collected from inside the wedding venue with an asking price of $50,000, illustrating how far some collectors are willing to stretch the boundaries of celebrity memorabilia.
