The cast of Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie has revealed that Taylor Swift’s music played a surprising role in helping them build a strong connection behind the scenes.

Alice Halsey, who portrays Laura Ingalls in the series, shared that she bonded with co-stars Skywalker Hughes and Crosby Fitzgerald through their shared love of Swift’s music. The young actors often listened to the singer’s songs together on set, creating a friendship that helped strengthen their on-screen family dynamic.

Halsey explained that music is an important part of the Ingalls family’s story in the series, and the same idea carried into the cast’s real-life relationships. She said she and Hughes quickly connected over their interest in pop music and Taylor Swift, while Fitzgerald was also a fan.

The cast also introduced Luke Bracey, who plays Charles “Pa” Ingalls, to Swift’s music. Halsey joked that they encouraged him to become a Swiftie by repeatedly playing songs such as “Anti-Hero.” Fitzgerald later confirmed that Bracey has been enjoying the music and is continuing to explore Swift’s work.

The actors have also shared their favourite Swift albums and songs, with Fitzgerald highlighting Evermore and Halsey naming Reputation among her favourites. The cast members said singing together and spending time on set helped create a close-knit atmosphere.

Fitzgerald noted that the strong bond between the actors contributed to the warmth viewers see between the Ingalls family members on screen. She said the young cast members quickly welcomed their older co-stars, making it easier to create an authentic family relationship.

The first season of Little House on the Prairie is currently streaming on Netflix.
