Murder case registered over tuition centre death

LAHORE:

A murder case has been registered against unidentified killers on the complaint of the father of a girl found dead in a tuition centre in Ichhra.

Sharing initial findings of their investigation into the incident, police said the girl, Naeema, had arrived with her two sisters for classes at around 4:15pm on Thursday at the two-storey house where two sisters run the tuition centre.

During class, she went downstairs to use the ground-floor washroom. When she did not return in 15 minutes, her sister checked and found the door locked. It was later forced open and Naeema was found unconscious.

She was shifted to the Services Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. Hospital staff noted a ligature mark around her neck.

Investigators said the washroom was of 2x3 feet and a nylon rope used for drying clothes had one end tied near the door lock.

CCTV footage from a shop opposite the house showed no unknown person entering or leaving. The only male present, the 60-year-old father of the teachers, Abdul Rauf, was questioned, but no evidence has linked him to the incident so far.
