Where can fans stream every ‘Harry Potter’ film for free this summer? ITVX has the answer
Fans of the Wizarding World will soon have one place to revisit every magical adventure without paying an additional subscription fee. ITV has secured a new agreement with Warner Bros Discovery that will bring all eight Harry Potter films and the three Fantastic Beasts movies to ITVX, allowing viewers across the United Kingdom to stream the complete collection free of charge.
The deal means all 11 films from the blockbuster franchise are now available on ITVX for an undisclosed period. In addition to streaming, the films will also be scheduled for broadcast on ITV1 and ITV2 during the summer holidays and beyond, giving audiences multiple ways to revisit one of cinema's most successful fantasy franchises.
The agreement represents another major content acquisition for ITVX as the platform continues expanding its catalogue of premium entertainment. According to ITV, the service has grown by nearly 60% over the past four years and now reaches 16.5 million monthly active users, making it one of the United Kingdom's leading free streaming platforms.
Darren Nartey, ITV's head of content acquisitions, described the agreement as an opportunity to introduce the films to a new generation while also giving longtime fans another chance to experience the beloved stories.
"We are extremely proud to make these iconic British films available for both old and new fans to stream, for free, during the summer holidays and beyond," Nartey said.
The Harry Potter film series remains one of the most commercially successful franchises in movie history. Based on JK Rowling's bestselling novels, the eight films followed the journey of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley from their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry through the climactic battle against Lord Voldemort.
Following the conclusion of the original saga, Warner Bros expanded the Wizarding World with the Fantastic Beasts prequel series, exploring events decades before Harry Potter's story and focusing on magizoologist Newt Scamander and the growing conflict involving the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the Harry Potter film franchise, highlighting its enduring popularity with audiences around the world. Collectively, the 11 films have earned more than $9.6bn at the global box office, making the Wizarding World one of the highest grossing film franchises ever produced.
The addition of the franchise is expected to strengthen ITVX's family entertainment offering during the busy summer viewing period, when school holidays traditionally lead to increased demand for family friendly programming.
For many viewers, the collection offers the chance to revisit favourite moments, while younger audiences who may have missed the films during their original theatrical releases can experience the entire cinematic journey in chronological order from the comfort of home.
