Hijacked trailer carrying Rs80m cloth recovered in Sukkur

Khairpur Police have recovered a trailer loaded with imported cloth worth Rs80 million which was hijacked a few days ago from the Thari National Highway near Khairpur.

According to local police, the trailer was intercepted using modern technology during a raid conducted in the Golimar area of Sukkur. Both the trailer and the stolen cloth were seized from a warehouse. An First Information Report (FIR) regarding the missing trailer had earlier been registered at Bubarloi Police Station.

Following the recovery, another FIR was being registered at Site Area Police Station in Sukkur district, police said.

Police stated that five suspects had stopped the trailer, bound from Karachi to Lahore, on the Thari National Highway in Khairpur and took it into their possession. The suspects unloaded the goods into a warehouse in Sukkur and abandoned the empty trailer in Shikarpur before fleeing.
