City braces for humid spell

KARACHI:

The Met Office has forecast partly cloudy and humid conditions in the metropolis over the next two days, with intermittent strong winds and chances of light drizzle at isolated locations.

The city remained largely partly cloudy on Sunday, with rising humidity levels making conditions feel hotter during the day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C, while humidity stood at 62%, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

An early warning alert said similar weather is expected on Monday and Tuesday, with occasional gusty winds and drizzle in some areas. A low-pressure system over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining regions persists but is likely to weaken further.

Meanwhile, strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea continue to penetrate southern and central parts of the country. Under the influence of this system, intermittent thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall are expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar and Matiari districts.

Authorities have warned that strong winds and lightning may damage vulnerable structures, while heavy downpours could trigger urban flooding in parts of Sindh.
