Fifth NADRA mega centre inaugurated in Surjani Town
The fifth mega centre of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was inaugurated in Surjani Town on Monday, aiming to provide round-the-clock identity-related services to residents of the city's outskirts.
Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi formally opened the facility in the presence of NADRA Karachi Region Director General Aamir Ali Khan and other officials.
The newly established centre will operate 24 hours a day, offering uninterrupted services to citizens. Officials said the facility is equipped to serve up to 2,500 people daily through three shifts and features 20 one-window counters to streamline processing.
Special arrangements have also been introduced for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, including four tablets equipped with fingerprint and iris recognition systems. In addition to Pak-ID services, a thalassemia desk has been set up to provide free diagnostic support.
Authorities said the centre is expected to benefit nearly four million residents of Surjani Town and adjoining areas. A waiting area with a seating capacity of 200 individuals has also been constructed to facilitate visitors.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Hashmi said NADRA was expanding its reach by bringing services closer to citizens through the use of modern technology. He termed the establishment of the thalassemia desk a "significant step" in public service delivery.
NADRA DG Aamir Ali Khan said the previous facility in the area had only three counters, which often led to congestion and forced residents to travel to the Five Star Chowrangi mega centre. He noted that the new facility would ease that burden and improve service delivery.
