Taylor Frankie Paul has shared new details about her decision to seek treatment at a mental health rehabilitation facility earlier this year, describing the experience as a voluntary step toward improving her well-being.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star addressed the situation through a series of Instagram Stories on July 5, explaining that her stay was intended as a "reset" rather than treatment for substance abuse. Paul said she chose to enter the facility to decompress, prioritise her mental health and receive additional support during a difficult period.

The reality star also revealed that she began taking an antidepressant during treatment, saying the medication has been effective for her. However, she expressed disappointment that her decision to seek professional help was later used against her during ongoing legal proceedings.

Paul's comments come as she remains involved in custody disputes with her ex-husband, Tate Paul, and former partner Dakota Mortensen. Court documents previously obtained by USA TODAY showed that Tate Paul sought a restraining order and requested changes to their custody arrangement, alleging concerns about her mental health. A Utah judge later denied that request.

She is also continuing a separate custody case involving her and Mortensen's young son. Paul said aspects of her private medical treatment should have remained confidential, arguing that mental health care should not be weaponised in legal disputes.

In a separate Instagram post, Paul said she hopes to advocate for greater awareness of domestic abuse and mental health issues, adding that she wants to help others recognise signs of emotional and psychological abuse.

Paul has previously faced legal issues related to domestic violence allegations involving Mortensen. While she was arrested earlier this year, prosecutors ultimately declined to file criminal charges. The custody proceedings and mutual restraining orders between the former couple remain ongoing.
