Lionel Richie has reassured fans that he is recovering well after a health scare forced him to postpone several concerts on his latest tour.

The 77 year old singer shared a positive update on Instagram over the weekend, thanking fans for their support after experiencing dizziness during a performance that resulted in the cancellation of multiple shows.

"Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love," Richie wrote. "I'm doing well, and I'm grateful for all of you."

The music icon also reflected on his recent performances in Pittsburgh and Detroit, describing the concerts as memorable experiences before looking ahead to his next scheduled appearance in Toronto.

"Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute joy. The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd... we made real memories together. See you in Toronto... let's party all night long!"

Richie's reassuring message follows an unsettling incident during the opening night of his tour at Grand Casino Arena in Minnesota on June 24. According to audience members and local reports, the singer had been performing for nearly an hour when he appeared to become unwell during his performance of "Dancing on the Ceiling."

While on stage, Richie paused and sat down before addressing the audience with his trademark humour.

"When you're feeling dizzy, sit your a** down," he joked.

He later moved to the piano, where he delivered a seated performance of "Three Times a Lady." Shortly afterwards, Richie briefly left the stage. Fans initially believed it was a short intermission, but after waiting around 40 minutes, organisers officially announced that the remainder of the concert had been cancelled.

The incident also led to the postponement of his scheduled concerts in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. At the time, organisers announced that Richie was acting under medical advice.

A statement shared on social media confirmed that doctors had instructed the singer to rest before returning to the stage.

"Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows," the statement read, adding that the singer was disappointed to delay the performances but looked forward to returning to fans as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for the St Paul Fire Department also confirmed that an individual was transported from Grand Casino Arena to a local hospital on the night of June 24. Officials did not release additional medical details, and Richie's representatives have not disclosed the specific cause of the dizziness.

Richie has remained active throughout the recovery period, using social media to reassure fans that his condition has improved. His latest post has been met with thousands of supportive messages from followers, many expressing relief that the Grammy winning performer is feeling better.
